PiL:
Horns

Bio:
In 1991 the legendary Tower of Power horn section were recording in the same LA studios that PiL were using for pre-production on 'That What is Not'. They became friendly with John McGeoch and he invited them to play on the album. Lydon later commented PiL felt some of the tracks were "screaming out" for horns. "TOP" appear on 'Covered' & 'Good Things': recorded at Eldorado Studios, Hollywood; with producer Dave Jerden.

A long running and well respected horn section TOP actually started life as a soul band in the 60s; gaining some commercial success along the way. Plagued by record company problems and personnel changes (sounds familiar) they morphed into one of the most in-demand horn sections in California. They sporadically release records under their own name, but mainly concentrate on session work; playing with the likes of Stevie Nicks, B.B. King, Elton John & Bonnie Raitt; among many others.

When asked to confirm her appearance here's what Christensen later told Fodderstompf: "I did sing on the PiL thing, I think on 'Good Things', 'Luck's Up' and 'Covered'... Bonnie (Bramlett) Sheridan was a trip. I think before sandwiches we got a little bitchy with each other. But the divas eventually worked it out and fixed the blood sugar problem!"

A jazz/blues musician born in Texas, Christensen moved to LA in the early 80s playing alongside many bands from the LA punk scene. She later went onto work with the likes of Leonard Cohen & Divine Horsemen. She also regularly played with her longtime cohorts the Stepsisters; and now fronts her own solo project Julie Christensen and Stone Cupid.
