It's great to hear PiL back at something resembling top form. Their shows at the Hammersmith Odeon last year were dreadfully smug affairs which saw at least one Sounds freelance fall asleep mid-gig. Any thoughts that Lydon was going to continue going through the motions are dispelled by this. It's probably their poppiest effort yet, with Lydon relishing the chance to sneer over a tune that's virtually Culture Club. The lyrics take a scathing swipe at the hypocrisy inherent in current green obsessions, and John's delivery is as deliciously finger-wagging as ever. Let's just hope it gets on Top Of The Pops.
